Design Help for Small Jobs & Aspiring Designers
Whether you’re looking to spruce up your space, need design advice to tackle a specific task, or are in the midst of a big project and need a sounding board to bounce ideas off of, we’re the design therapists you’ve been looking for. Let us bring fresh eyes and expertise to your project so you can move forward confidently and mindfully.
House calls are best suited for smaller jobs. Some examples that fit the bill: sourcing furniture and fixtures, creating a vision for a room or space, deciding on wall finishes and paint colors, gaining fresh perspective on a project that’s troubling you.
If you have a bigger project that requires a more in-depth design process, email us and we’ll see if it’s something we can accommodate!
Feeling out a space is such an important part of our design process. Since we can’t be there in person, anything you can send ahead of time to mentally get us into your project is a huge help. The more you can send the better, but even a few images along with a sentence or two about why you signed up goes a long way.
House call rates are $300 for an introductory call and $150 per hour for any resulting design work. Your sign up deposit covers call prep and the one-hour introductory call. Additional hours will be billed separately. Every project is unique and unfolds in its own way, and we will work together to figure out the best way to move forward after the initial call.
2. FULL SERVICE DESIGN
We re-design, renovate, furnish, and style every inch. We live in, or very near, the spaces we are working on–an approach that has become a keystone of our process. Building a close relationship with each home guides our decisions and helps us develop thoughtful, intuitive, and beautiful design.
We believe in an organic design process, free of computer mock-ups and floor plans, and heavy on hands-on hard work and creative freedom. More than anything else, we look for spaces that inspire us, and clients who trust us to work our magic.
We are not taking on full-service design projects until 2023.
3. PLASTER WALL FINISHES
Plaster is a timeless, traditional finish that brings a depth and texture to walls, and changes a room entirely. There are a lot of faux products out there right now trying to deliver this look, but what we’re offering is the real deal. You can feel the difference in person, physically and intrinsically.
We’ve apprenticed and practiced the plaster trade for the past decade, always incorporating hand-trowelled plaster into our own design projects. We’re excited now to offer our plaster services to everyone.
Most photos of our work show off our color-tinted gypsum plasters, but we occasionally work with lime plasters as well. Please contact us via email with more information about your project.
4. PLASTER 101: Fundamentals
Our Plastering Process from Start to Finish
Students will watch and Q+A with us as we plaster a wall over the course of an afternoon. Topics will include tools and materials, surface preparation, tinting with pigments (covered more fully in October 17th’s color workshop), application, smoothing, dry times, and after care. This is a virtual class, and the recorded video will be included as part of your takeaway. All levels welcome.
A Note on Pricing: It’s not an easy time to be running a small business, but we do not want money to be what stops someone from learning to plaster. If you would like to take part in the workshop but truly cannot afford it, please email us. We’ll be reserving a limited number of free spots in each class.
The Fine Print: All prices in USD. All workshops are currently virtual. You’ll receive the Zoom link the day before the workshop. Your signup grants you access to the live workshop on Zoom, as well as a recorded video available for download for 30 days afterwards. Cancellation accepted via email up to 24 hours before the workshop, with full refund initiated from our end within a few business days.
